Greetings CCMS Families:
We are excited to highlight our 7th Grade Gifted and Talented Math class! Students are currently learning how to find unknown values in proportional relationships using tables. One effective strategy the teacher implemented was peer tutoring, where students who had mastered the concept assisted their classmates. This not only strengthened the understanding of the student helpers but also provided additional support and confidence for those still practicing the skill. Peer tutoring also increases collaboration and critical thinking. Great job to Mr. Mwangi and his class for working together to ensure everyone mastered the skill!
At CCMS, our goal is simple: to use effective teaching strategies that ensure all students achieve mastery of concepts.

Greetings CCMS Families:
We are excited to highlight Mrs. Sayas’s 6th Grade Math class! Today, students took on an area challenge where they acted as contractors. Their job was to design a concrete slab for a house, calculate the area, and determine the cost the customer would have to pay. Working in groups, students planned, solved, and presented their solutions to the class. Real-world math projects like this benefit student learning by making math meaningful, encouraging critical thinking, and showing students how the concepts they learn in class apply to everyday life. This project also supported 21st-century skills such as collaboration, problem-solving, and communication. Great job to Mrs. Sayas for planning such a meaningful and engaging lesson!

Ms. Sheppard shared her expertise in real estate and home ownership, elaborated on her experiences as a business owner and entrepreneur, and emphasized the importance of good health and wellness. We appreciate her valuable insights and information. Our students were enthusiastically engaged.

We are excited to highlight Mrs. Mariano's 8th Grade Science class! This week our students took on the Egg Drop Challenge, and it was a smashing success (well…for most eggs 😅). Through this hands-on project, students explored Newton’s Laws of Motion in action—discovering how forces, motion, and impact affect the fragile egg, and how creative designs can reduce the force of a collision. Beyond physics, this activity also promoted collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking as students worked together to design, build, and test their protective devices. We’re proud of how our scientists-in-the-making learned to apply science in a real-world engineering challenge!
