Important Announcement: Summer School Options for 2025
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we want to inform you of an important update regarding summer school offerings for 2025. Due to resource constraints, summer school options will be limited this year. While we understand that summer school has been an essential support for many students in the past, we encourage all students to focus on meeting their academic goals during the school year.
It is crucial that students remain engaged and complete their coursework in a timely manner. Our Promotion/Retention Policy emphasizes that in order to be promoted to the next grade level, students must meet established academic standards and demonstrate progress in key subjects. Summer school will not be available for all grade levels, and we strongly encourage students to buckle down and stay on track throughout the year to avoid any setbacks.
Please note the following from our Promotion/Retention Policy (Policy IKE Promotion, Retention, and Acceleration of Students):
Promotion to the next grade level will be contingent upon successful completion of grade-level academic requirements, including assessments, assignments, and class participation.
Students who do not meet these requirements may be considered for retention and will have the opportunity to work with teachers to address academic challenges, but summer school will not be a guaranteed option for all students.
We want to partner with you to ensure every student has the support they need to succeed. Please encourage your child to take full advantage of the learning opportunities this school year, reach out to teachers if they need help, and stay focused on their academic responsibilities.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support. Should you have any questions or concerns about your child's progress, please don’t hesitate to contact you child's school.
Warm regards,
Jessica F. Williams
Superintendent
Colleton County School District
