On Wednesday, January 29, the Global Career Development Facilitators of CCMS collaborated with Be Pro Be Proud SC to host an event. The 18 Wheeler Mobile Workshop provided students with an immersive virtual tour of vocational training career opportunities. Students had the opportunity to explore various careers, including auto mechanics, welding, construction, vehicle operations, and many more. Our students were highly engaged while learning from six of their peers who served as Ambassadors for Be Pro Be Proud SC. We appreciate the support of Principal Mr. Peeples, Assistant Principals Mr. Bryan and Mrs. Tolliver, 8th grade Teachers, District Staff Mr. Bill Jones, Board member S.Witkins, and Colleton County High School GCDF’s Mr. Romeo Edwards and Jasmine Thomas.

CCMS Global Career Development Facilitators had the pleasure of hosting the Civil Air Patrol, 2nd Lt. Eldon, and several cadets on Monday, January 13. The cadets shared their expertise with our students and staff, providing insightful information about the Civil Air Patrol and the Red Ribbon Leadership Academy. They also facilitated hands-on sessions on designing paper airplanes, which concluded with a fun competition to determine whose plane could fly the farthest. Our students eagerly participated in this engaging activity. We are excited about the prospect of further collaborations with the Civil Air Patrol.

Students in Colleton County say youth gun violence is causing an increasing amount of fear in their community. Sunday afternoon, February 2, 2025, at the Colleton County Civic Center, the community came together to fight gun violence through a prayer vigil called “Lifting Our Voices In Unity.” The event was organized by student organizations ‘Sisters In Action’, ‘Ladies In Excellence’ and ‘Boyz 2 Men.' Thank you to everyone that came to support our students. https://abcnews4.com/news/local/lifting-our-voices-in-unity-to-fight-gun-violence-in-colleton-county-wciv-abc-news-4-2025-crime-faith-sisters-in-action-ladies-in-excellence-boyz-2-men-isiah-united-methodist-church-peace-colleton-county-school-board#
